On July 28, 2017, Governor Baker signs H.3818 (Chapter 55 of Acts of 2017) — formally distinguishing hemp from marijuana under Massachusetts law. MDAR is assigned to oversee hemp; the Cannabis Control Commission gets marijuana. It is a critical separation that will define the next decade. The Healing Rose is founded this same year.
